- World War II didn't technically end until 3rd September 1990, with the reunification of East and West Germany
- In France the first recorded use of the Guillotine was in 1792 and last in 1977! The final unlucky soul was a one-legged criminal.

- For 5 days in the 13th Century (1281 to be precise), Chelmsford was the capital of England.
